Prompt: July 6 - Sleep when you're dead. Someone can't sleep. Who is it and why?

It had taken some convincing on her part, but finally Mary had John lying next to her in bed. He was pretending to sleep, perhaps even trying to, but she could tell he was awake.  Still trying to make sense of the tableau on his desk, no doubt. Of course, that had been the plan.

Luckily she had recognized Essie Scott for who and what she was – one of Sherlock’s agents. The message sewn onto the bee was obvious to Mary within seconds. Unluckily, the receptionist, Emma, had heard the entire conversation and been utterly charmed by the felt bee. She was sure to say something about it to John. It was too much of a risk to dispose of it, as had been Mary’s original plan.

Plan B, then, appropriately enough. The best way to hide something was in plain sight. No need for smoke and mirrors to distract. Some careful staging on John’s desk and his attention was captured by the entire scene rather than by only the bee. With any luck, he wouldn’t grasp the message until the crucial moment had passed.

To be fair, it was a rather subtle message. The bee’s black embroidered stripes were not done evenly. There were two near the stinger, two in the middle, and one nearest the head. A two-two-one bee. Someone was trying to get John back to Baker Street, and Mary had a hunch she knew why . . . and an even stronger hunch as to who.
